Mask Making Latex

Product Overview

HX-407 is a pre-vulcanized pourable latex designed for hollow casting in gypsum molds. By allowing the latex to dwell in the mold before pouring out the excess, users can control wall thickness and create durable, flexible castings.

Commonly used for mask making, puppet heads, hollow figures, and display pieces, HX-407 requires no additional curatives and can be tinted with FabTone pigments.

Mixing & Curing Notes

Dwell time controls thickness: about 30 minutes yields roughly a 1/16-inch thickness, while a two-hour dwell can produce about a 1/4-inch thickness. Dense plasters are less absorbent and build more slowly, and humidity and ambient temperature also affect drying time. Avoid oils, greases and solvents on finished castings and store them out of direct sunlight.
